Associate Principal

Duties

Key Responsibilities

 

Instructional Leadership & School Improvement

  • Lead curriculum development aligned with best practices and innovative middle school pedagogy
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions and drive continuous improvement
  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and staff development
  • Support teacher growth through coaching, evaluation, and feedback
  • Champion student-centered learning aligned with 21st-century skills

     

Student Support & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive learning climate
  • Support restorative practices and proactive behavioral systems
  • Serve as Section 504 Coordinator
  • Collaborate with case managers to determine LEA representation at IEP meetings
  • Ensure compliance with Child Find, IEP, 504, and evaluation timelines
  • Oversee accurate documentation, service delivery records, and mandated reporting
  • Partner with families to facilitate constructive problem-solving and meaningful engagement

     

Staff Supervision & Human Resources

  • Supervise, evaluate, and support certified and non-certified staff
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts
  • Provide targeted professional development and in-service opportunities
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth

     

Operations & School Management

  • Assist in development and oversight of the school budget
  • Ensure implementation of District policies and procedures
  • Oversee safety and security protocols for students and staff
  • Coordinate extracurricular programming, including interscholastic and intramural activities
  • Support facilities oversight and maintain compliance with health and safety standards
  • Respond to emergencies as needed

     

Community Engagement

  • Foster strong partnerships with families and the Highland Park community
  • Promote transparent and timely communication
  • Support school events and initiatives that strengthen community connection
  • Respond to correspondence within 24 hours on operational days

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Principal or General Administrative endorsement
  • Master's Degree (minimum requirement)
  • Successful teaching and/or certified experience in an educational setting
  • Experience in middle school leadership preferred

Salary/Benefits

Compensation & Benefits

 

The Associate Principal position offers:

 

  • Salary: $104,000 - $110,000
  • Benefits Package Includes:
    • 25 vacation days

Additional Notes

Physical & Work Requirements

 

  • Ability to move throughout school buildings and grounds
  • Ability to supervise students and respond to safety concerns
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Regular computer use and written communication
  • Ability to work extended or irregular hours, including evening meetings
  • Availability to respond to urgent matters as needed
