Special Education Teacher / Inclusion Facilitataor

Duties

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The successful candidate will be an experienced individual who can perform a combination of the following: 

  • Create, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students with identified needs, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
  • Provide coaching and support to general education teachers on lesson and curricular modifications, along with implementing accommodations to provide greater access and support within the general education classroom.
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies and materials to provide equitable access to education for students with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement behavioral intervention plans to support positive behaviors within the learning environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed of best practices in special education and inclusion.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with families about student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Establish links with community resources to support students' learning and well-being.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities within the school and the broader community.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES

The successful candidate will be an experienced individual who possesses a combination of the following:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS I endorsement
  • Proven experience in special education or a related field
  • Comprehensive understanding of inclusive educational practices and strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Proficiency in assessing students' abilities and progress using both formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and educational software that support learning for students with special needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, general education teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • General knowledge of special education regulations, policies, and procedures

SALARY & BENEFITS 

  • Salary, benefits, and the work year are established in accordance with the current District 207 Collective Bargaining Agreement and Board of Education policies.
