Duties
1. Provide leadership, direction and guidance to help shape and support the district’s technology plan and coordination of district resources in collaboration with Senior Leadership.
2. Supervise and support the district’s network infrastructure.
3. Collaborate with stakeholder groups including administration working in Teaching and Learning and Operations in the planning, development and implementation of professional development related to technology.
4. Monitor, develop and implement processes that monitor district’s data security and protection, including compliance with applicable legal requirements not limited to FERPA, PII, CIPA, COPPA and SOPPA. Make recommendations for changes as needed.
5. Support the technical implementation of new technology initiatives.
6. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, including the assignment of work duties and review of work to assure compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
7. Provide input related to development of the annual preliminary budget for technology programs. Oversee the disbursement of the technology budget.
8. Monitor and evaluate the district technology plan.
9. Assist in the development and support of district AI policies/guidelines for students and staff.
10. In collaboration with other district departments, help to insure and support compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
11. Monitor and modify Acceptable Use Policies for students and staff on an annual basis.
12. Insure technology support at twice monthly board meetings.
13. Collaborate with Grant Administrators in the preparation, review and evaluation of grants. Coordinate and assure proper disbursement of local, State and federal funds.
14. Serve as point person for all district E Rate eligible purchasing processes.
15. Assist in the negotiation and purchase of software licenses. Monitor distribution of licenses.
16. Assist in the negotiation and purchase or lease of technology hardware including recommendations on sustainable and efficient replacement cycles.
17. Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to technology hardware and software.
18. Communicate with other administrators, personnel, outside organizations and the public to coordinate activities and programs and to exchange information.
19. Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned; attend and participate in a variety of local, regional and State committees, boards and councils as directed.
20. Maintain an accurate technology inventory.
21. Oversee the District’s technology systems, including but not limited to: e-mail systems, telephone system, district automated voice communication system, projection, controlled access (fobs), copier fleet and computer networks.
22. Ensure that the District’s information systems are secure, reliable and safe.
23. Work with contracted vendors to ensure efficient, effective responses to technology needs.
24. Other duties related to the primary job function as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in related field is strongly preferred. For those with alternative certification, at least five years of relevant experience is required.
2. Demonstrated history of strong project management skills.
3. Demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
4. Experience with both Windows and Apple environments/products.
5. Experience with large scale Chromebook and iPad deployments (including familiarity with JAMF platform) strongly preferred.
6. Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) preferred but not required. The district would support acquisition of this designation.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
8. Comfortable with public presentation and able to communicate effectively with stakeholder groups at varying comfort levels/understanding of technology.
9. Understanding of technology infrastructure required.
10. Familiarity with e rate (or similar government programs) preferred.
11. Understanding of technology hardware and software required.
12. Educational environment experience preferred but not required.
13. Both certified (TRS) and non-certified (IMRF) applicants considered.
Salary/Benefits
Hiring range: $118,000- $152,358
Salary range: $118,000- $169,536
