Duties
DUTIES:
Screen new students for LEP identification using the WIDA Screener
Select Maintain proper certification to administer ACCESS test and WIDA Screener
Attend staff meetings at home school
Coordinate schedule to meet with LEP students
Communicate with and assist families when needed.
Provide classroom teachers with the most recent student ACCESS scores, and also provide suggested accommodations and modification ideas
Plan lessons according to WIDA Language standards, including social and emotional language, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies
Utilize grade-level state content standards when planning lessons
For TBE (Transitional Bilingual Education) instruction: provide instruction in both English and Spanish. This should include the history and culture of students’ native land and the United States
For TPI (Transitional Program of Instruction) instruction, as determined by the student’s proficiency, TPI instruction is designed to enable students to keep pace with peers in the core academic content areas
Provide accommodations to make content comprehensible for LEP students
Participate in the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee
Attend IEP meetings of LEP students
Help administer various standardized tests to LEP students (i.e. administer IAR test to LEP students in order to provide small group and/or other appropriate accommodations)
Interpret for parents and/or teachers, or communicate with the District Bilingual Parent Liaison or Bilingual Teacher’s Aide to provide translation services to parents and/or teachers
Performs all other duties reasonably related to the position as may be assigned by the Building Administrator or Superintendent.

Must be familiar with the use of computers, including but not limited to electronic mail, the Internet, word processing, Google, and electronic spreadsheets. Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff)
Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs.
Salary/Benefits
Certified Educational Professionals – Local 743 Granite City Federation of
Teachers: Starting pay of $53,430 with TRS.
*GCSD9 can honor up to 10 years of previous public-school teaching experience at $83,923 with TRS.
