Duties
The principal serves as the chief administrator of the junior senior high school, responsible for the following key areas:

Instructional Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of a standards-based curriculum. Conduct teacher observations and evaluations.

School Culture & Safety: Maintain a safe, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment. Oversee school safety plans, crisis management, and student conduct codes.

Operational Management: Manage the building’s budget, facility maintenance, and daily operations. Coordinate with the Superintendent's office on fiscal matters.

Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between the school and the community, including the Board of Education, parents, and local business partners.

Staff Development: Recruit, hire, and mentor faculty. Facilitate professional development of the school staff.
- Other Duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications
To hold this position in Illinois, candidates must meet strict licensure standards effective for the 2026 academic year:

Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Educational Leadership or Administration from a regionally accredited institution.

Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Principal Endorsement (formerly Type 75).

Evaluator Certification: Completion of the Growth Through Learning (Teacher Performance Evaluator) training required by ISBE.

Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of successful full-time experience as a teacher or school support personnel.

Testing: Passage of the Illinois Content Area Tests for Principals.
Salary/Benefits
Salary and Benefits through a negotiated contract based upon experience; expected multi-year contract.
