Duties
Purpose
This position requires knowledge of change theory, adult learning, and Social Emotional Learning and student behavior and its relationship to academic achievement. Knowledge of programs in the field such as Second Step, Responsive Classroom, Tribes, and/or School-Connect is essential. This position requires the ability to analyze and synthesize information to integrate Social Emotional Learning performance standards and Social Emotional Learning programs within all curricular areas across all grade levels; and ability to create and coordinate professional development for all school staff. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of district staff in both verbal and written form, build consensus among diverse groups, establish and maintain productive working relationships with others, and build, articulate, and sustain a vision for Social Emotional Learning and Behavior districtwide.
Essential Functions
- Conducts short term and long term planning in Social Emotional Learning and aligns planning to the district's Strategic Plan.
- Supports the Director of Student Services with the Districtwide Behavior Team and Districtwide SEL committee.
- Provide building level support to implement resources and tools for social emotional learning, mental health, mindfulness, behavior and wellbeing of students.
- Consults with principals and staff concerning the needs of students. Facilitate the integration of social emotional learning and mindfulness as a regular part of a proactive classroom behavior management system to assist with instructional delivery.
- Monitors and evaluates district SEL curriculum.
- Designs and implements professional workshops and in-services to support the social emotional learning curriculum and incorporates best practices, including research on learning theory and content standards.
- Engages and informs parents and families about SEL and ways to promote SEL at home.
- Support the use of multiple sources of behavioral data collection to analyze barriers to student achievement and to access, identify and apply to instructional improvement.
- Serve as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve social emotional behavioral learning for all students.
- Work with principals to create a school-wide focus on goals for social emotional behavioral learning.
Salary/Benefits
Salary ranges from $100,000- $120,000.
