Middle School Teacher (Grades 6–8) – Special Education and/or Flexible Content Area(s)

Duties

The Middle School Teacher will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned to Illinois Learning Standards in assigned subject area(s)
  • Foster strong literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
  • Create a structured, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and student support
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and concerns
  • Participate in school events, committees, and initiatives that support our school culture

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate middle school endorsement(s)
  • Endorsement in one or more of the following areas: Special Education (LBS1), Reading, Writing/ELA, Social Studies, and/or Math
  • Strong content knowledge and instructional skills
  • Effective classroom management and relationship-building abilities
  • Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
  • Dedication to supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of middle school students

Position Overview

Our award-winning, close-knit rural school district is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Middle School Teacher (Grades 6–8). This position offers flexibility in content assignment based on candidate strengths and district needs. We welcome applicants with endorsements and expertise in Special Education (LBS1), Reading, Writing/ELA, Social Studies, and/or Math.

The selected candidate will teach in their area(s) of endorsement and strength. We are open to considering candidates with specialization in one content area or multiple content areas. This flexibility allows us to best align staffing with both student needs and teacher expertise. Priority will be given to candidates with their Special Education LBS1 endorsement.
