Elementary Principal Share: Print: Duties Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school. Establishes and implements guidelines for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline. Supervises the certified, non-certified, and volunteer persons functioning in the school. Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school activities. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the students. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals. Interprets Board policies and administrative directives to the staff and community. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their professional development. The majority of time will be devoted to the improvement of instruction - curriculum and staff development. Coordinates and supervises such support services as building and grounds maintenance, food services, extra-curricular activities, and health services. Implements and supervises the school’s special education programs. Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paper work required or appropriate to the school’s administration. Participates in Administrative Staff and such other meetings as are required or appropriate. Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests, and monitors expenditures of funds. Attends special school sponsored activities and functions. Cooperates with college and university officials regarding student teacher training. Cooperates with various members of the Central Administrative Staff on school and district problems and programs. Conducts regular staff meetings and in-service programs. Keeps the Superintendent informed of the school’s activities and problems. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field. Implements School Board Policy. Coordinate the selection and assignment of personnel with Central Office. Assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be delegated by the Superintendent. Qualifications A minimum of five years of experience in the field of public education, including experience as a classroom teacher. Prefer experience in public school administration and/or supervision. Bilingual—Spanish language skills preferred Highly collaborative style and a strong team and consensus builder. Master’s degree with a concentration in educational leadership. Valid Illinois Type 75 certification. Salary/Benefits 12 month year with salary to be established by the Board of Education.
