Description 

The School Principal is responsible to the Superintendent for the organization and administration of all educational programs within the school.  The primary responsibility is to serve as the chief instructional leader and culture builder for the K-2 school community.  The principal must ensure that every student develops mastery of literacy and numeracy skills through the implementation of evidence based instructional practices.

   Job Summary 

  • Establish and maintain an effective learning environment
  • Promote positive action toward the realization of school and district objectives and goals
  • Evaluate employees in accordance with district policy, procedures and contracts
  • Make recommendations to the Superintendent regarding competency of faculty and staff
  • Monitor and participate in the effective operation of the School Improvement Plan
  • Articulate the school program to parents and seek their involvement
  • Foster positive interpersonal relations between students, staff, parents, colleagues, and community members
  • Assume leadership in the direction of all school activities
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree, with a major in educational administration.
  • A valid state certificate to practice as a school principal.       
  • At least three years of experience in public school administration and supervision.  
  • At least two years of experience as a teacher.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for improvement of student learning and achievement.
  • Ability to lead instructional programs.
  • Ability to lead Spanish Dual Language program.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to identify needs, develop viable plans and prioritize.
  • Possess the vision and enthusiasm for effective leadership.
  • Recognize the importance of parent and community involvement in the school.

Salary/Benefits

$120,000-$135,000 Depending on Qualifications
