Duties
Instructional Leadership
The principal will lead staff in results-driven practices and processes in support of learning for all students by engaging in the following:
I. The principal will live a mission and vision focused on results. The principal will work with the staff and community to build a shared mission and vision of high expectations that ensures all students have available to them a free and appropriate public education that emphasizes individualized education plans that are designed to meet the unique needs of the students and prepares them for further education, future employment, and independent living and holds the staff accountable for results.
II. The principal will lead and manage systems change. The principal will create and implement systems to ensure a safe, orderly and productive environment for student and adult learning toward the achievement of school and district improvement priorities.
III. The principal will improve teaching and learning. The principal will work with the school staff and community to develop a research-based framework for effective teaching and learning that is refined continually to improve instruction for all students.
IV. The principal will build and maintain collaborative relationships. The principal will create a collaborative school community where the school staff, families and community interact regularly and share ownership for the success of the school.
V. The principal will lead with integrity and professionalism. The principal will work with the school staff and community to create a positive context for learning by ensuring equity, fulfilling professional responsibilities with honesty and integrity, and serving as a model for the professional behavior of others.
VI. The principal will create and sustain a culture of high expectations. The principal will work with staff and community to build a culture of high expectations and aspirations for every student by setting clear staff and student expectations for positive learning behaviors and by focusing on students’ social-emotional learning.
Management
The principal will:
? Develop and submit to Human Resources staffing plan
? Develop and submit to the CFO a balanced budget and monitors overall school and departmental budgets
? Develop and submit to the Director of Special Education the IDEA Part B Preschool Grant and monitor grant
? Develop a Master Schedule and Staff Supervision Schedule that support student learning
? Serve on the building PPS Team to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
? Coordinate interagency and inter-district services to meet student and program needs
? Direct the planning, teaching techniques, evaluation, and implementation of programs including extended school year programs
? Coordinate ESY Services, Programming, Student Placement and Principal at ESY
? Serve as the building level fiscal agent ensuring that bookkeeping functions are being performed using best accounting practices and procedures to monitor school programs (i.e. National School Lunch Program) established by the District are being followed
? Be responsible for building operations and maintenance
? Uphold Board of Education and central office policies and procedures
? Enforce student handbook and building procedures
? Address issues relative to staff and student attendance and behavior
? Oversee the inventory, purchase, and organization of all materials and fixed assets
? Oversee building level vendor and service contracts
? Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the building level crisis plan
? Supervise school activities and events
Qualifications
VALID ILLINOIS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR LICENSE (PEL) WITH GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE ENDORSEMENT AND TEACHER EVALUATOR (MODULES 1-5)
ENDORSEMENT IN LBS OR RELATED SERVICE
Required Qualifications: Experience and knowledge of Special Education instruction, procedures, and policies; Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; Demonstrate instructional leadership skills; ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships. Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to personal professional development; Demonstrate commitment to student growth and school improvement; 3-5 Years of Teaching Experience.
Salary/Benefits
Hiring range: $108,000- $137,723
Salary range: $108,000- $152,585
Additional Notes
Desirable Qualifications: 3-5 Years of Administrative/Leadership Experience; Experience working with diverse populations; Experience working with multilingual learners and families.
