Director of English Language Services

Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Overseas and writes federal grants pertaining to EL programing 
  • Ensures all ISBE EL mandates are in full compliance
  • Leads the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) 
  • Provides instructional leadership for the EL/Bilingual teams to improve EL student achievement 
  • Provides or coordinates professional development opportunities for bilingual/EL teachers and all staff supporting EL students 
  • Supports the data analysis of EL student data on MAP, IAR, ISA, and ACCESS to make recommendations for programming 
  • Assesses EL curricular resources and make recommendations, as needed, for the growing English Learner and newcomer population 
  • Supports building EL family nights 
  • Manages ACCESS testing and data collection
  • Coordinates with MTSS programs and the Assistant Director of Curriculum to ensure EL students received interventions as needed 
  • Manages EL accommodations for state and local testing (MAP, ACCESS, IAR, ISA, etc)
  • Supports EL summer school staffing and student programming 
  • Attends and participates in Administrative Council meetings and other meetings as needed.
  • Remains up to date on current research, mandates, and policies related to English Language Learner programing and requirements 
  • Assists with Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) regulations compliance.
  • Supports the Department of Teaching & Learning, building leaders, and instructional staff in ensuring high student achievement and growth 
  • Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the Director may assign

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • ISBE PEL with an English Language Learner endorsement and General Administrative endorsement, required.
  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership required 
  • Successful experience in educational administration as a district or building administrator preferred.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience, working with English Language Learners preferred.
  • Advanced graduate work in education with a concentration in curriculum, assessment, staff development and instructional practices preferred.

Salary/Benefits


Summary: This position provides districtwide leadership for English Learner programs, ensuring full compliance with ISBE mandates while advancing instructional practices that improve EL student achievement. This position serves as a key liaison to educators and families by leading the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) and supporting EL/Bilingual teams, newcomers, and multilingual communities.

This position includes a comprehensive benefits package including Board-paid TRS and THIS contributions,100% district-paid medical and dental insurance and $5,000 annual annuity 

Minimum Salary:  $110,000 annually
