Duties

  • Develop and implement standards-aligned instruction based on students’ IEP goals and individual needs.
  • Design engaging lessons that promote collaboration, critical thinking, and meaningful learning.
  • Differentiate instruction and materials to ensure accessibility and appropriate levels of challenge.
  • Utilize instructional technology and high-quality materials to enhance learning.
  • Serve as case manager for assigned students with IEPs.
  • Plan, schedule, and chair IEP meetings in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Chair 504 meetings and oversee the development, review, and revision of 504 Plans.
  • Collaborate with families, general education teachers, related service providers, and administrators to develop measurable goals and appropriate accommodations.
  • Ensure timely completion of required documentation, progress reports, and compliance records.
  • Monitor implementation of accommodations, modifications, and related services for both IEP and 504 students.
  • Develop and implement assessments aligned to instructional outcomes and individualized plans.
  • Monitor student progress, adjust instruction as needed, and maintain required documentation.
  • Communicate student progress regularly with families and educational team members.
  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures to maximize instructional time.
  • Promote positive student behavior, perseverance, and social-emotional growth.
  • Maintain strong communication with families and staff.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications

Must hold a valid Illinois teaching license and certification to teach special education or be able to obtain the proper certification.

Salary/Benefits

Starting salary for the 26-27 school year is minimum $43,190. Board paid TRS as well as medical, vision, dental, and life insurance benefits. District accepts all years of experience and education for placement on salary schedule. 

Additional Notes

Cornell Grade School is ranked among the top 15% in the state and we are looking to expand our special education team. The candidate who is hired will be able to work with the principal and current special education staff to create their schedule. The assigned caseload will be between 8-10 students.
