Duties

The Paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher in providing instruction to diverse learners. The primary goal of this role is to support students’ academic, social, and behavioral growth. This position often involves working one-on-one or in small groups with students who have Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), assisting with classroom management, and preparing instructional materials.

Qualifications

• At least 19 years of age to serve students in grades PK-22.
• Illinois Paraprofessional Licensure
• Beginning January 1, 2023, individuals who are 18 years of age may qualify for the ELS-Paraprofessional to serve students PK-8 by meeting the requirements outlined below.
• One of the following required:
• Associate’s degree or higher
• 60 semester hours of coursework
• High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
• High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys?:
• Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
• Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)

Salary/Benefits

Starting pay is contingent upon experience and education level.  Benefits include 17 sick days per year, 2 personal days per year, 95% district paid single health insurance policy, optional vision and dental, life insurance policy.
