Duties
Manteno CUSD 5 is accepting applications for two (2) Instructional Coaches for the 2026-2027 school year. One will primarily work with Grades PK-5, and one will primarily work with Grades 6-12.
The Instructional Coach supports teachers in improving instructional practices, implementing curriculum, and increasing student achievement. The coach provides job-embedded professional learning, models best practices, and collaborates with staff to strengthen teaching and learning across the school and district. Instructional Coaches will be evaluated. They will also provide non-evaluative observations and feedback focused on coaching and supporting teachers.
Instructional Practices
- Provide classroom coaching cycles including co-planning, modeling, co-teaching, and reflection.
- Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies aligned to district curriculum and standards.
- Analyze student work, assessment data, and learning trends to guide instructional decisions.
- Assist teachers with differentiation, intervention, enrichment planning, EL strategies, SPED strategies, and classroom management.
- Model high-quality instructional practices, including formative assessment, differentiation and classroom management strategies.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the CCSS curriculum and varied assessments, the Framework for Teaching, and data analysis.
- Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
- Create an articulated schedule with building administration.
- Assist teachers in understanding Manteno CUSD 5 mission and core values.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Support teachers by helping with the ?strategic how of teaching -- share multiple instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.
- Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
- Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
- Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice.
- Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within schools.
- Submit a weekly coaching log and any pertinent data requests/coaching documentation.
- Stay current with instructional research, state standards, and best practices.
- Maintain strong communication and collaborative relationships with staff.
- Ability to engage in professional and critical conversations aimed at growth for students we serve.

Salary/Benefits
Salary and Benefits are based on the negotiated salary agreement, pending approval. Extra-duty stipends may be available. The 2025-2026 salary range began at $42,100.
