SPED Coordinator

Duties

  1. Supervises and evaluates certified and support staff
  2.     
  3. Enforces the district's personnel policies
  4.     
  5. Participates in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and training of department personnel
  6.     
  7. Assists with recommendations for tenure and dismissal
  8.     
  9. Assists with coordination of contracted related service personnel
  10.     
  11. Works with departmental staff to resolve student, staff, and/or parent problems
  12.     
  13. Engages in relevant curriculum planning and development
  14.     
  15. Provides consultation and leadership regarding health and safety assessments of students
  16.     
  17. Maintains administrative records; prepares reports and correspondence

Qualifications

  1. Illinois Public Educator License, General Administrative Endorsement, and Teacher Evaluator Designation required
  2.     
  3. Undergrad degree in special education preferred, or a related services field (school psychology, school social work, etc.)
  4.     
  5. Supervisory and/or leadership experience in special education programs, including leading Section 504 meetings and/or IEP meetings
  6.     
  7. Supervisory and/or leadership experience managing building-level programming, parent concerns, and student discipline
