Duties
• Under general supervision of the Superintendent, to develop, implement, direct, supervise, and
coordinate the Student Services curriculum and instructional programs for the district and to
develop and implement the district-wide professional development programs, consistent with the
district goals as well as applicable laws.
• To facilitate the educational programming and placement of students assigned to Special
Education and English Learners programs in the District and to provide direct technical assistance
to the formalization and organization of effective service delivery throughout the District.
• To provide leadership in program development and improvement.
Qualifications
• Professional Educator License with Director of Special Education Endorsement
• Master's degree in the field of education with endorsement in an area of special education required
• Training and experience with special education rules, regulations, and laws as well as laws/policies
that govern English Language Learners
• Prior supervisory/administrative experience in special education
• Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of research, best practices and innovation in curriculum and instructional
design, evidence-based practices, assessment, coaching, and data analysis
• Evidence of ability to facilitate teams and work independently
• Knowledgeable of learning theory and best practice for students and adults with special needs
and/or disabilities
• Evidence of strong facilitation skills with small and large groups and the ability to clearly
communicate teaching and learning outcomes to teachers and stakeholders
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License
Salary/Benefits
Salary range $170,000 - $220,000, includes Board-paid TRS and annuity, to commensurate with experience.
