Duties

Job Responsibilities

The elementary special education teacher is responsible for providing services to students with a wide variety of academic, communication, health, and social-emotional needs. Teachers are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines.

The service delivery model may include a mix of co-teaching, push-in support, pull-out resource instruction, and consultation with staff. The special education teacher works collaboratively with general and special education teachers, related-service personnel, instructional assistants, administrators, and parents to promote access, growth, and success for students with disabilities in inclusive settings.

Experience supporting students in early childhood is preferred.

 

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) (required)
  • LBS1 endorsement valid for Pre-K through age 21 (required)
  • Early Childhood Special Education endorsement or experience in early childhood settings (preferred)

Salary/Benefits

Commensurate with the current agreement between the District and the Kenilworth Educators Association.
