Duties
Saint Libory Consolidated School District #30 is a small, rural K-8 district in St. Clair County, serving approximately 65-70 students in a single school building. With a low student- teacher ration of about 9:1and a highly engaged community, the district offers a unique opportunity for a leader who can blend district- level strategy with hands-on, daily engagement with students, staff, and families.
The Superintendent/Principal serves as the district’s chief executive and instruction leader. This role includes full responsibility for district operations, instructional leadership, financial management, and community relations. The Superintendent/Principal works closely with the Board of Education and is highly visible within the school and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Provide a clear, student-centered vision that reflects the values of a close-knit rural community.
- Lead long-term planning aligned to Board goals and Illinois state standards.
- Serve as the primary advisor to the Board of Education, offering data-informed recommendations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Instructional Leadership
- Oversee curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development across the K-8 program.
- Monitor student achievement and maintain the district’s strong academic performance (top 30% statewide).
- Evaluate and support teachers and support staff within a small-team environment.
- Oversee MTSS, special education services, and student support structures.
- School Operations & Management
- Manage all day-to-day operations, including but not limited to scheduling, transportation, facilities, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations.
- Oversee hiring, supervision, and evaluation of all district staff (approximately 11-12 total staff FTEs).
- Maintain and update district policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Finance & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the district budget, overseeing a revenue structure supported by federal (13%), local (46%), and state (41%) funding sources.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility across all operations.
- Provide clear and accurate financial updates to the Board and community.
- Strive to maintain a Financial Total Profile Score of 4.0.
- Family & Community Engagement
- Serve as the district’s spokesperson and public representative.
- Build strong relationships with families, community partners, and local organizations in Saint Libory.
- Communicate regularly across multiple channels, ensuring stakeholders remain informed and engaged.
- Promote a welcoming and positive school climate that reflects the values of the community.
- Safety, Culture & Student Support
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
- Lead crisis response planning, safety drills, and emergency procedures.
- Support student attendance, behavior programs, and overall well-being.
- Reinforce a culture where every student is known, supported, and valued.
Salary/Benefits
Salary Range- Begins at $75,000 with potential for additional compensation based on qualifications. The district provides Board-paid TRS and offers a variety of benefit options.
