Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Duties

Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for the 2026-2027 school year.

Description: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) PreK-8 provides district-level expertise in applied behavior analysis to support students with complex behavioral needs across elementary and middle schools. The BCBA collaborates with school teams to design, implement, and monitor evidence-based behavioral interventions that promote student engagement, independence, and positive outcomes within inclusive learning environments.

The role focuses on building staff capacity through consultation, coaching, and data-informed problem-solving while ensuring behavioral supports are aligned with IDEA requirements, district practices, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). The BCBA works closely with Principals, the Director of Student Services, Coordinator of Student Services, and school teams to ensure consistency, quality, and fidelity of behavioral supports across settings.

Summer work will be paid. The BCBA serves in a consultative and coaching capacity and does not supervise, evaluate, or direct certified or classified staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Supports universal and targeted behavioral practices by consulting with teams on preventative strategies, classroom systems, and early intervention to reduce the need for intensive support
  • Conducts or supports functional behavior assessments (FBAs); guides teams in the development, implementation, progress monitoring, and revision of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) aligned to identified functions and student needs
  • Assists school-based teams in structured problem-solving to address complex behavioral needs, including analyzing data, identifying patterns, and adjusting interventions
  • Assist school teams in developing IEP present levels of performance related to behavior, including synthesizing assessment data, observations, and progress monitoring information
  • Supports the development of measurable, functionally relevant behavior goals and objectives aligned to identified needs
  • Provides direct behavioral support to students during acute behavioral crises as needed and serves as a member of school-based and/or district crisis response teams, supporting immediate stabilization, staff guidance, and follow-up planning
  • Supports teams in selecting appropriate data collection tools and methods, analyzing behavioral data, and using results to adjust interventions and goals over time
  • Coaches and trains special education, general education, and related service staff on evidence-based behavioral strategies, classroom management practices, de-escalation techniques, and the integration of behavioral supports into instructional routines
  • Supports school teams in analyzing student data to inform decisions regarding teaching assistant support, including implementation monitoring and fade planning, in collaboration with building administrators and IEP teams
  • Participates in IEP meetings as appropriate to support behavior goal development, service planning, and placement decisions
  • Assists with overseeing Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and collaborates with district leadership on crisis prevention, intervention planning, and the implementation and monitoring of CPI-aligned behavioral practices to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Communicates with families regarding behavioral strategies and progress in collaboration with case managers and school teams
  • Collaborates with outside providers, when appropriate and with parent consent, to support continuity of behavioral interventions across settings
  • Aligns individualized behavior supports with district MTSS frameworks to ensure consistency across tiers and reduce reliance on intensive interventions when appropriate
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to maintain BCBA certification and enhance practice
  • Complies with applicable board/administration policies/regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Licensure (required):

  • Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification through a Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) - preferred
  • Experience working with students with significant behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive needs in school settings
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, functional behavior assessment (FBA), behavior intervention plans (BIP), and positive behavior supports
  • Experience providing consultation and coaching to multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze behavioral data and guide data-based decision-making

  • Expertise in applied behavior analysis and evidence-based behavioral interventions
  • Strong understanding of behavior within instructional, environmental, and social context
  • Ability to facilitate structured problem-solving with school teams
  • Skill in training and coaching staff to implement behavioral strategies with fidelity
  • Ability to analyze and interpret behavioral data to guide to intervention decisions
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff, families, and administrators
  • Ability to balance student safety, dignity, and independence when designing supports
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple cases and schools while meeting timelines

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary Range - $50-$75/hour based on credentials and experience (for candidates without a PEL)
    • Candidates with a PEL will be placed on the salary schedule based on credentials and experience
  • Reimbursement - eligible for tuition reimbursement and all other benefits in the LFEA 67 collective bargaining agreement.
  • Retirement System
    • Candidates without a PEL - IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund)
    • Candidates with a PEL - TRS (Teacher Retirement System)
