Duties
Duties: This position is for teaching middle school science to 7th and/or 8th graders. There is a possibility that this position would also include teaching 1-2 sections of 7th grade social studies and/or a section of 7th grade literature and language, depending on the candidate's qualifications and strengths.
The primary duty of the classroom teacher is to develop lesson plans and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that is aligned with the curriculum. Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Common Core State Standards, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning. The classroom teacher collaborates with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators in addressing a variety of instructional issues. A classroom teacher communicates with students and parents/guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress. The classroom teacher is responsible for creating an environment of respect and rapport, and establishing a culture for learning in which safety and order is the norm.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid Illinois teaching license and certification to teach middle school science or be able to obtain the proper certification. Endorsements in social studies and/or ELA could be required depending upon the teaching assignment.
Salary/Benefits
Based upon the district's negotiated teacher contract. Base salary for 26-27 school year is $42,831.
