Paraprofessional

Duties

  • Support students individually or in small groups during instruction
  • Assist with classroom routines and instructional activities
  • Provide behavioral and social-emotional support as directed
  • Support students with special needs, including IEP and 504 accommodations
  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow school policies
  • participate in required trainings and professional development.
  • Support classroom instruction by working with individual students or small groups under teacher direction.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, organization, and classroom routines.
  • Provide behavioral support and reinforcement in alignment with school expectations and individual behavior plans.
  • Support students with special needs, including those with IEPs and 504 Plans.
  • Assist with personal care needs as required (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility).
  • Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and school activities.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the teacher.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student progress and concerns.
  • Follow school policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Illinois Paraprofessional License or the ability to obtain licensure
  • Experience working with children preferred
  • Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills

Salary/Benefits

Annual Salary: Starting at $20.70/hour per the Mount Olive Education Association Contract (2024-2027).

Mt. Olive Elementary School is seeking a reliable and caring Paraprofessional to support students and teachers in creating a safe, positive, and effective learning environment. The paraprofessional will work under the supervision of a licensed teacher or administrator to assist with instructional and student support needs.
