Speech Language Pathologist

Duties

  • Identifies and evaluates students identified through the referral process for Speech/Language concerns.
  • Participates in the determination of eligibility for special education and related services in the area of speech language impairment (Eligibility Review).
  • Participates in teacher and parent conferences including ER’s, IEPs.
  • Develops and implements IEP's for all students for special education and related services in the area of speech/language.
  • Consults with parents, teachers, students, administrators, and other professionals.
  • Recommends adaptations of classroom instruction in the area of language development, as necessary.
  • Completes required documentation and reports.
  • Participation on RTI teams as appropriate.
  • Facilitates curriculum and instructional modifications.
  • Participates in continuing professional education.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by administration pertaining to the aforementioned position.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate Speech Language Pathologist Endorsement or as set by Illinois State Board of Education licensure authorities.
  • Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
