Duties
Elementary Classroom Teacher: An Elementary Classroom Teacher will provide direct instruction to
foster and enhance an effective learning environment to meet the individual needs of all students. A
Unity Point teacher must work collaboratively to build relational trust and foster a growth mindset for all
students. The primary responsibility of the teacher is to create a flexible educational program and
environment favorable to learning and student growth; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and
knowledge necessary to a sound education foundation in accordance with each student’s ability and; to
establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assume primary responsibility for increasing student achievement (i.e. mastery of knowledge and
skills, character, and high-quality work) by designing and implementing cross-curricular units of
study that integrate literacy instruction and utilizing active pedagogy.
- Create a collaborative student-centered classroom that thrives on differentiated instruction to
increase student growth and enhance school culture.
- Challenge, engage, inspire, and empower all students.
- Design lesson plans that allow for flexible, uninterrupted blocks of time that foster deeper
learning, and content-based literacy.
- Engage in professional learning.
- Establish clear and consistent assessment and progress monitoring techniques based on evidence
to make instructional decisions to meet students’ needs and further their growth.
- Proficiency in the use of technology for individual communication and research
- Cultivate strong partnerships with families.
- Believe every child can learn and reach high levels of academic achievement.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an Illinois Professional Educators License in the respective area.
