Duties
The School Nurse coordinates the school health program including the delivery of services to students and serves as the health resource to staff members in order to enhance health and wellness in the school community. The school nurse’s duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional school nurse practice, the state board of education policies and procedures, and the State of Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications
- Provides and/or delegates to licensed personnel direct professional nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care to students.
- Maintain cumulative health records up-to-date and request physician and dental examination records in accordance with the district and state requirements.
- Administer medication in accordance with state laws and board policy to students and monitor its effect on students, set procedures for emergency administration of medication.
- Provide vision, hearing, and other health screenings as required by the district and the state, and referrals and follow up to students identified in this process.
- Consult with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters.
- Provides counseling and follow-up services to students with disabilities as delineated in the IEP/504.
- Collaborates with the crisis and safety team to determine if health adversely affects the student’s educational process.
- Responsible for the development of all IEP goals, benchmarks, and accommodations for students requiring health-related services.
- Prefer qualifications to provide instruction for Medical Terminology and or CNA programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Salary/Benefits
Regionally competitive salary and benefits. Salary will be set on the certified teacher schedule outlined in the CBA.
