Health Occupations (CTE) APPLY ONLINE

Duties

Established classroom management procedures through which educational sessions may be conducted with efficiency and optimal instructional impact.

Provides classroom instruction for the CTE Academy Health Occupation students and provides quality instruction to qualify for Dual Credits for high school and Highland Community College.

Instruct and coordinate educational job shadowing and work-based experiences for students.

Participate in student clinical rotations by working additional hours outside of normal class days at various facilities in the area.

Works within regional communities to secure or arrange external job-related experiences, including job shadows, internships, or apprenticeships for second-year students.

Conducts an annual “ADVISORY COMMITTEE” meeting with local industry partners, community members, entities of higher learning, and other stakeholders in the region within the timeframe determined by the facility director.

Provide the Educational for Employment (EFE) Director with documentation, student statistical information, and classroom materials as requested for grant documentation.

Compiles and submits accurate, complete, and comprehensive records as required by Illinois State statutes, CTE Academy policies, and administrative regulations.

Maintains student academic and attendance records and works with CTE Academy office staff, local districts' teachers or administration, and community college to provide timely recording of student progress or deficiencies.

Supports and assists the administration in the implementation of all rules and policies governing student life and conduct both within and outside the classroom

Works with special needs students, providing instruction that complies with IEP or 504 plans as designated for individual students. Ensuring quality instruction for all student populations, including special needs, those with disabilities, and special populations.

Takes all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Makes recommendations for purchases of supplies, teaching materials, technological improvements, equipment, or other items as identified through industry changes and improvements that take place in the specific field or career.

Develops and maintains regular and effective lines of communication with students, guidance counselors, home district staff, and parents regarding student academic and behavioral progress.

Strives to represent the CTE Academy and programs in a positive, professional, and discerning manner.

Accepts and participates in CTE Academy functions and events, and contributes to the overall projects successfully.

Reads internal and external communications to provide timely and accurate information and reporting, documentation, or procedural needs.

Represents the CTE Academy professionally and its programs through appropriate dress, grooming, and behavior.

Maintains and updates equipment, textbooks, and other inventories on an annual basis as requested by the CTE Academy office staff.

Accepts such other appropriate duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by CTE Academy BOC or Director.

Qualifications

Active Illinois RN License (required)

Bachelor of Science degree (preferred)

Eligibility requirements for IL teaching license as a CNA Instructor/Trainer (as required by IDPH)
- 2 years of nursing experience with at least one year of providing care to geriatric or chronically ill adults in long-term care nursing
- Approved Evaluator
- Train the Trainer program completion (training available)
- 2,000 hours of work experience as a Nursing Assistant/Aide and/or Patient Assistant/Aide

CPR Instructor Certification preferred (training available)

Experience as an educator or health education position (preferred)

Good communication and writing skills. Experience using Google (Drive, Docs, Calendar, etc.)

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including flexibility and adaptability

Salary: $42,000 - $46,000 (based on experience)

Additional Notes

Provides classroom instruction and hands-on instruction for the Jo Daviess Carroll CTE Academy Health Occupation students.

Performs all functions and activities as outlined in the philosophy and policies of the Jo Daviess Carroll CTE Academy.

Ability to work with regional junior and senior students from Warren, Scales Mound, Stockton, West Carroll, Galena, and River Ridge, and successful communication with applicable designees of those districts.
