Job Title: Junior High History Teacher
Location: Morrison, Illinois
Reports To: Mr. Joseph Robbins
Position Summary:
Morrison Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Junior High History Teacher to join our team of educators. The ideal candidate will inspire students to engage with historical content, develop critical thinking skills, and understand the connections between the past and present. The teacher will create a positive learning environment that supports all students’ academic and personal growth in accordance with state standards and district goals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Illinois Learning Standards for Social Science.
- Teach courses in U.S. and world history, civics, geography, and related social studies content.
- Integrate reading, writing, and technology into instruction to promote literacy and inquiry.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; use data to inform instruction.
- Maintain accurate and timely student records, grades, and communication with families.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and 504 plans.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and active participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to support school and district initiatives.
- Supervise students during assigned duties (e.g., homeroom, hallway, lunch, etc.).
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
