Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide instructional leadership for staff including curricular planning, implementation and aligned assessments.
- Assume responsibility for developing, progress monitoring and evaluating a School Improvement Plan and associated goals in seeking the continuous improvement of the school and specifically student achievement. This includes the effective implementation of PLCs and continuous analysis of student data.
- Ensure that all school initiatives provide equitable experiences and outcomes for every student and staff member and that classrooms are highly inclusive environments for all.
- In cooperation with the Director of Financial Services, prepare the school budget and provide comprehensive fiscal management of such to ensure the full function of the school and its systems. This includes building accounts, school expenditures and payroll.
- Assess the staff development needs of building staff and provide/support professional development and training programs in collaboration with district staff.
- Build and maintain supportive and meaningful relationships with both students and families.
- Evaluate the performance of all personnel assigned to the school in accordance with the District evaluation procedures.
- Participate in interviews for new teachers and staff as needed.
- In collaboration with central office staff, determine the assignments of personnel within the school.
- Work with building staff to develop and effectively use a variety of resources to support the instructional programs and extra-curricular programs of the school.
- Develop and implement an effective public relations program for the school to promote student/school activities, programs and success stories.
- In consultation with Director of Facilities and Maintenance and Athletic Directors, advise and make recommendations on the use of and care of the school's shared physical facilities and grounds.
- Maintain effective and consistent systems of communication with students, families, staff and community agencies.
- In consultation with appropriate staff members, advise and recommend changes and improvements for the use and care of the physical facilities and grounds.
- Attend regular meetings of the Board of Education and special meetings as required.
- Establish and maintain a program of personal and professional growth.
- Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) and an administrative endorsement. Applicants should have a minimum of five years of experience in teaching, supervision and/or administration.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have knowledge and be able to articulate and document through experience involvement in the following:
- The school improvement process and strategies utilized to reach school improvement goals.
- Technology-based applications for school improvement and instruction at the elementary levels.
- District elementary curricular and instructional knowledge.
- A vast understanding of instructional best practices for enhancing student achievement.
- Familiarity with discipline policies and procedures and effective measures to establish and maintain a positive, equitable and inclusive school culture
- The District's policies and procedures for evaluating licensed and educational support personnel
- Recent professional growth and development programs
- Experience with and knowledge of district and state assessment programs
- Understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Board and the Alton Education Association.
- Experience developing and managing building-based budgets
Salary/Benefits
$95,000-$105,000
Depending on education and experience.
