Duties
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Oversight
- Lead and communicate a cohesive vision for early learning (Birth–5) across the
district.
- Provide districtwide leadership for early learning (Birth–5), ensuring cohesive
vision, high-quality programming, and alignment with district priorities across
multiple sites (ELA, Full-Day, PAT).
- Serve as Special Education administrator for Early Childhood
- Provide programmatic leadership in planning professional learning and
transitions across PAT, ECSE, blended, and full-day programs.
- Assist staff in understanding and implementing national, state, and district
standards, and in using student achievement data to inform instruction.
- Make recommendations to Executive Director of Student Supports regarding
curriculum needs, purchases
- Monitor cross program enrollment data, early learning outcomes, and
implementation.
- Collaborate with instructional coaches to identify instructional trends and needs
and design targeted professional learning.
Supervision and Evaluation
- Supervise and evaluate assigned leaders, including the ELA Asst Principal, Asst
Principal for PFAe and PAT, and IEP Coordinator.
- General supervision of Special Education Assessment Clinic
- Collaborate with other Early Childhood administrators to evaluate certified staff in
early childhood programming.
- Conduct classroom and building walkthroughs as a means of observing
instruction and providing feedback geared toward increased outcomes of
students
Compliance and Grant Coordination
- Support coordination of the Preschool for All (PFA) and PFA-Expansion grants,
EC IDEA grant, in collaboration with Assistant Dir of Grants and Accountability
and fiscal staff.
- Ensure alignment with ISBE Early Childhood Compliance, IDEA Part B
requirements, and monitoring guidelines.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure accurate licensure for certified and
classified staff in compliance with ISBE Early Childhood requirements
Collaboration and Cross-Department Work
- Partner with Special Education leadership to ensure equitable services for
students with IEPs.
- Collaborate with Curriculum and Instruction administration to align curriculum,
assessment, and instructional practices.
- Coordinate with host-site principals to ensure program alignment, operational
support, and shared accountability.
Family Engagement and Community Partnerships
- Coordinate efforts within the district and community to communicate regarding
screenings and available resources for Birth-5
- Strengthen family engagement strategies and serve as liaison with community
agencies and state partners supporting early childhood development.
Qualifications
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR LICENSE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD, SPECIAL EDUCATION OR RELATED SERVICE WITH ADMINISTRATIVE ENDORSEMENT. Minimum 5-7 years of experience in early childhood education, including teaching, program leadership, or administrative roles; Experience managing staff across multiple program types and/or locations.
Salary/Benefits
Hiring range: $108,000-$137,000
Salary range: $108,000-$152,000

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION SKILLS: Experience with special education classrooms or services preferred; Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood curriculum, assessment, special education services, and family engagement; Commitment to student achievement and school improvement; Ongoing commitment to personal professional development; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to build relationships across departments and with communication agencies.
