Job Summary:
Rochelle Middle School is seeking a dedicated 6th Grade Social Studies teacher who is passionate about helping students understand history, civics, geography and the world around them. The ideal candidate fosters critical thinking, inquiry and discussion while creating an inclusive classroom environment. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply to support communication with multilingual families.
Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Social Studies lessons
Promote inquiry, analysis and evidence-based discussion
Use assessments to guide instruction and monitor student growth
Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including multilingual students and those with IEPs
Build a positive classroom culture with clear expectations
Collaborate with grade level teams and communicate regularly with families
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
Valid IL Professional Educator License with appropriate Social Studies or Middle School Endorsement
Strong knowledge of Social Studies content and effective teaching strategies
Ability to build strong relationships and a supportive learning environment
