Special Education Secretary

Duties

  1. Organizes and manages the day-to-day operational needs of the office.
  2. Maintains a proper filing information and retrieval system for all special education files.
  3. Receives and places telephone calls as instructed.
  4. Coordinates arrangements for appointments, conferences, staffings, and evaluations.
  5. Fills out, with a high degree of accuracy, all official forms that relate to the functions of this office.
  6. Coordinates the scheduling of support services.
  7. Provides secretarial assistance to the Assistant Superintendent and all special education support staff as necessary.
  8. Compiles materials for all special education children for annual reviews.
  9. Assembles incoming data from staffings for funding transmittance.
  10. Gathers and summarizes all figures for attendance reporting.
  11. Provides temporary assistance, to the Superintendent=s secretary as needed.
  12. Coordinates all other duties relating to Special Education/State Funded Special Projects /Transportation as requested by the Assistant Superintendent.
  13. Guards the confidentiality of all information placed in charge of this office.    Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal.
  14. Performs such other duties as may be requested by the Director of Special Education or the Superintendent.

Qualifications

    1. High school diploma/Associate/advance degree (preferred) plus have at least two years experience.
    2. Have an above average command of English Grammar, Spelling, and Composition.
    3. Have an above average command of proper business letter construction, report             development, and other standard business communications.
    4. Be able to type using machine dictation.
    5. Be able to type 50 words per minute, with a high degree of accuracy.
    6. Be able to operate a variety of office equipment, including computer, typewriter, copier, software, scanner, dictaphone, etc.
    7. Have above average ability to organize and operate on office information storage and retrieval system.
    8. Have above average ability to remember a variety of official rules, regulations and procedures, so as to be able to accurately fill out a variety of official forms.
    9. Have a pleasant office demeanor and a diplomatic telephone voice.

Salary/Benefits

Twelve months (245 days).  Salary and other benefits as established by the Board of Education.
