EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PERSONNEL - SUPPORT

 

Position: Teacher Aide

Reports to: Building Principal

 

Job Function: Provides a well-organized functioning class environment in which                       

students can take full advantage of the instructional program and 

available resource materials.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  • Under supervision of certified teacher, prepares for classroom activities.
  • Works with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists individual children in need of special education.
  • Performs clerical duties.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
  • Sets up audio/visual equipment.
  • Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet and clothing routines.
  • Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work.
  • Assists with the academic program.
  • Participates in inservice training programs.
  • Understands ADA, IDEA, and State mandates regarding students and parent due process.
  • Administer at-risk programs as they relate to this job to provide for safe working and learning conditions providing for both physical safety and environmentally safe conditions to work in and learn.
  • Maintains security for all records.  Provides for secure placement of such records when away from work site.
  • Follows universal precautions in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.


Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in 

accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on 

Evaluation of Educational Support Personnel/negotiated

Agreement.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

    1.  Teacher Aide Certificate and/or Letter of Approval.

  1.  Ability to work with children and adults.  

    3.  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board

         may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

Salary/Benefits

Terms of Employment:  Salary, working hours, and work year to be established by  

the Board of Education.
