English Language Learner Instructional Support Specialist
Duties
- Communicate with prospective and current ELL students via text, email and phone.
- Attend/help facilitate pre and post testing events for ELL students.
- Manage paper student files and scan files/manage files electronically. Facilitate initial meetings at various community locations with tutors and students and prepare/disseminate curriculum materials on an as-need basis.
- Follow up with tutors and students in our program in an effort to enhance retention.
- Mail a newsletter to tutors/students on a monthly basis.
- Teach/lead a once-monthly Saturday/weekday morning adult ELL conversation class.
- Represent STAR Literacy at various community events.
- Attend/present at student and tutor recruitment activities.
Qualifications
- Position is flexible and can work remotely as needed; however, must report to work at the Regional Office of Education #17 at least two half-days per
week.
- This position works a flexible yet varied schedule with some weekday morning, afternoon and several evening and weekend hours required.
- While fluency is not required, an intermediate level Spanish speaking proficiency is necessary.
- Must have excellent communication skills and keen attention to detail.
- College degree required.
Salary/Benefits
- Initial Rate of Pay is $26.00/hour
