Duties

TITLE: ELL / Bilingual Paraprofessional

 

REPORTS TO: Teacher


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Become familiar and responsible with/for ELL materials
(including computer and software).
Works with small groups of ELL students to introduce material and promote ELL independence.
Works with teacher to reinforce material initially introduced.
Promotes the development of English language skills for ELL students.
5) Provide computer software as reinforced for classroom use.
6) Encourage parents participation in program.
7) Keep teachers and parents aware of student’s progress under
the supervision of the teacher.
8) Provides optimal learning environment for ELL students.
9) Improves self-esteem for ELL students.
10) Maintains awareness of different cultures and languages
represented in the student population.
11) Participates in inservice training programs.
12) Assists with program conduct and evaluation.
13) Promotes English skills in the areas of vocabulary, language,
comprehension, and expressive skills without a loss of identity
or appreciation of students’ own ethnicity.
14) Provides for well organized, smoothly functioning class
environment under the direction of the teacher in which
students can take full advantage of the instructional program
and available resource materials.

15) Respects confidentiality of information pertaining to the
school and the students. All inquiries from parents regarding
their child’s progress shall be directed to the teacher.
16) Any/All other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or
administration.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION: All instructional paraprofessionals must at least possess an
Educator License with Stipulations (ELS): PARA. In lieu of this
license, possessing a Substitute Teacher or Teacher License is
acceptable. In order to qualify for the ELS Paraprofessional
License, the applicant must possess:
- High School diploma or equivalent and
- 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university or
- Associates Degree or
- Passing score on the ACT WorkKeys Test.
- Fluent in Arabic, Polish, or Spanish preferred


LICENSE: ELS (PARA) License

Salary/Benefits

In accordance with the Negotiated Agreement between the
Indian Springs School District #109 Board of Education and the
Indian Springs School District #109 Paraprofessional Council,
Local #571, IFT/AFT.   $17.00/hr

Additional Notes

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with
provisions of the District’s Policy and Administrative Procedures
regarding classified employee evaluation.
