Duties
· Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for Students; maintain compliance with all Federal Regulations and State Policies regarding the education of students with disabilities.
· Provide educational and behavioral support to enable students to improve academically and behaviorally.
· Collect and analyze student data to modify and/or develop appropriate educational and behavioral goals.
· Be able to implement specific educational and behavioral supports.
· Provide direction and training to paraprofessional staff.
· Effectively collaborate with a large team of professionals.
· Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
· Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
· Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
· Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
· Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in students’ learning.
· Ensure appropriate accommodations to the curriculum, lessons, and learning environment. Instruction may be provided within the regular classroom setting and/or small classroom setting.
· May assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs; lifting; positioning; or assisting students with personal care such as
feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist
I endorsement or Learning Behavior Specialist II endorsement preferred.
Salary/Benefits
SALARY: $43,445-$85,920 per year according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule
7.5 Hours a day
