Duties
Participates in the implementation of occupational therapy treatment as assigned
by OTR.
- Directly reports to and works under the supervision of the OTR responsible for
specific treatment goals.
2.Utilizing appropriate exercise or activities for restoration of physical function to
increase balance, joint motion, muscle strength, and coordination.
- Provision of perceptual training and sensory stimulation.
- Teaching means to achieve an optimal level of functioning in self-care and other ADLs
(Such as eating, dressing, writing, and transfer techniques).
- Instruction in the use of necessary adapted devices.
- Assisting OTR in the construction of orthotic devices, such as splints or slings.
Regular contact with classroom teachers regarding student progress in occupational therapy
program. Consult with teachers as needed regarding classroom difficulties.
7.Offering support and encouragement to assist pupils to meet treatment goals.
8.Observes and regularly records the physical and emotional condition of students (and/or family situation).
9.Reports to the OTR any significant changes or concerns with students and obtains advice and consultation from the OTR on any student care or inter-family situation.
10. Confers regularly with OTR to review students’ progress and continuing plan of care and makes
joint visits with OTR whenever necessary to receive direct supervision.
- Attends and participates in in-service educational programs.
- Daily data collection and treatment notes, quarterly progress reports and
complete billing requirements.
- Collaborates with Registered Therapist with the writing of Individual Education Plans and Annual
Reviews on each child annually
Qualifications
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by AOTA.
Current certification as COTA by passing the National Certification Examination for
COTA's. Current licensure (or application, thereof) within the State of Illinois.

Salary/Benefits
$29.00 (Will compensate for years of experience in a pediatric setting with pediatric clients.) Collective Bargaining Agreement
