Duties

  1. Creates a vision for the special education program to achieve excellence for all students in the least restrictive environment.
  2. Oversees operations related to student support services, including Special Education, School Health Services, Hospital/Homebound Services, School Psychology, School Social Work, and/or other systems of support.
  3. Supervises, leads, and provides direction to the Coordinators of Special Services for the implementation of student services at the building level, including assessing needs, developing programs, and implementing services.
  4. Develops and implements a plan for identifying and implementing best practices for the provision of student support services, including sustainable procedures, processes, and practices.
  5. Monitors school district policies and works with administrators to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and rules related to all areas of student support services.
  6. Responsible for compiling, maintaining, and filing all State and Federal reports and other documents required by the State regarding all programs under the student services umbrella.
  7. Communicates information on services and regulations to school personnel, parents, and the Board of Education for the purpose of understanding services and monitoring progress.
  8. Prepares and presents the position of District 210 in situations requiring formal conflict resolution, ISBE mediation, and/or due process procedures in conjunction with legal counsel.
  9. Manages fiscal resources and grants, prepares budgets and directs spending, and monitors the maintenance of effort.
  10. Evaluates the performance of staff members assigned under direct supervision.
  11. Attends all Board of Education meetings and presents to the Board of Education for information or action.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or advanced degree in relevant field, Doctorate preferred.

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a high school level endorsement and General Administrative or Principal Endorsement.  Director of Special Education Endorsement.

Salary/Benefits

Starting Salary: $130,000 commensurate with experience

Benefits package to include Health, Dental, and Vision.

Also included is an allotment for vacation, sick and personal days.
