High School Special Education

Duties

Brownstown CUSD 201 is seeking a compassionate, student-focused High School Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will provide instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in grades 9–12, ensuring access to the general education curriculum and promoting success in the least restrictive environment. We are looking for an individual who is committed to building positive relationships with students, collaborating with staff and families, and supporting our mission of student growth and achievement.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement.

  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, FAPE, IEP development, and behavior management strategies.

  • Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities, including learning, emotional, and developmental.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

  • Familiarity with assistive technology and inclusive education practices is a plus.

 

Salary/Benefits

 

  • Salary is regionally competitive and based on experience and education as outlined in the Brownstown CUSD 201 salary schedule. See contract here for salary information. BEA Agreement 2024-25 through 2026-27
