Duties
Overview:
Illini West High School #307 is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher fluent in Spanish to support our English Language Learners (ELL's). This role is ideal for educators who are enthusiastic about helping students achieve English proficiency and succeed academically and socially in a high school setting.
Responsibilities:
- Provide English language instruction to Spanish-speaking ELL students in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) standards.
- Develop lesson plans tailored to students' language proficiency levels and academic needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and integration.
- Support students in both individual and small group settings.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with ESL or English as a New Language (ENL) endorsement.
- Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written).
- Bachelor's degree in Education.
- Previous experience teaching English Learners, preferably at the high school level.
- Strong cultural competency and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive school environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual ESL endorsement.
- Experience using WIDA standards and ACCESS assessment data.
- Familiarity with sheltered instruction or SIOP model.
