Duties
El Paso-Gridley High School is seeking a dedicated and visionary Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach to lead and elevate our basketball program. The ideal candidate will be a strong role model who exemplifies integrity, fosters inclusive team culture, and prioritizes student-athlete development on and off the court.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Serve as the lead coach and culture-builder for the entire boys basketball program, grades 7–12. Provide leadership, mentorship, and coordination among all coaching levels to ensure alignment in philosophy, skill development, and program expectations.
- Culture Building: Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and team-centered environment where every player feels valued and supported. Emphasize core values of encouragement, positivity, and gratitude in daily team operations.
- Sportsmanship & Conduct: Promote and model exemplary sportsmanship. Set and enforce high behavioral standards for players and coaches that reflect positively on the school and community. Ensure respectful conduct toward officials, opponents, and spectators at all times.
- Accountability: Maintain a culture of personal and team accountability. Hold players and coaches to high standards regarding attendance, effort, attitude, and respect. Use consistent expectations and consequences to support team discipline and growth.
- Relationship Development: Foster strong, trusting relationships with players, families, coaching staff, and the broader school community. Communicate regularly, clearly, and respectfully with all stakeholders to build shared goals and mutual understanding.
- Skill Development & Competitive Preparation: Oversee and implement a comprehensive, vertically aligned player development system that prepares athletes to succeed at each level. Plan and lead practices, games, off-season workouts, and camps that emphasize fundamental skills and team play.
- Collaboration & Professionalism: Work closely with school administration and athletic leadership to uphold district policies, academic standards, and athletic regulations. Collaborate with other coaches to support multi-sport athletes and shared program goals.
Salary/Benefits
Regionally competitive and determined in accordance with the district's Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
