Duties
SEAPCO wishes to employ a paid School Social Worker Intern for the 2025-2026 school term. The Intern will be classified as a Resident-School Social Worker while completing requirements for the Illinois State Board of Education PEL (Professional Educator Licensure) with the Endorsement/Approval School Support Personnel (School Social Worker)
The Resident School Social Worker will work with a professional school social worker team within the SEAPCO organization. The Resident will be provided hands-on training in all social work services necessary for the development of the student’s IEP or documented in the student’s IEP. The Resident School Social Worker will be provided experience on interventions and facilitating communication among three distinct systems: school, home, and community.
These services include, but are not limited to:
- Identification and Assessment of Children needing services and assessment of their needs.
- Intervention with individual students/groups. The resident school social worker will use their professional and personal skills to provide needed services.
- School/Home/Community Liaison. The resident social worker will facilitate communication between school, home, and the community.
Qualifications
Students who are completing their final year of an approved college program leading to Illinois licensure in school social work.
Salary/Benefits
The salary for this position is set by the SEAPCO Board of Control and is currently $18,000.00 for 190 days of employment.
