Duties
Primarily teach grades 5-8th math and science in a combined classroom (due to small enrollment numbers) with additional teaching opportunities for various subjects with other grade levels.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Communicate classroom news to parents on a regular basis
? Arrange field trips and speakers
? Plan the curriculum and make weekly lesson plans
? Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. There will be
an executive session for teachers and board members at the end of
each regular monthly school board meeting. Attendance is
optional.
? Attend worship services regularly at the church of your
membership.
? Monthly updates for the school newsletter and church bulletin
about classroom activities
? Find a substitute when you cannot be at school and notify the
office of who it will be.
? Attend at least one continuing education class/seminar every two
(2) years and present material to staff after completion of
class/seminar. Pre-approval is required by the Board.
Inside the Classroom:
? Set a Christ-like example
? Construct and promote a safe learning environment
? Build relationships - student:student, student:adult, student:Jesus
? Teach the curriculum with creativity and innovation using
curriculum guidelines, textbooks, supplementary materials, and
available technology
? Care for equipment and materials within the classroom
? Observe and maintain student records
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Education and math endorsement
Illinois Teacher's License
