Duties

  1. Function as a member of the Multi-Tiered System of Support Team and School Crisis Team
  2. Provide a social developmental study and adaptive behavior assessment for children referred for case studies
  3. Confer with members of the MTSS team, Grade Level Teams, or Special Education Team as needed relative to case disposition and follow-up
  4. Participate in re-evaluation of children placed in special education programs.
  5. Recommend appropriate intervention procedures for children exhibiting behavioral or emotional problems in the school setting
  6. Upon request, consult with school personnel and parents regarding the management of children with learning and social behavior problems
  7. Provide individual and/or group therapy for children
  8. Upon request, provide liaison services between the school, the home, and other family service agencies
  9. Confer with parents relative to the social history and family analysis findings and recommendations
  10. Investigate and report to appropriate agencies on suspect child abuse cases
  11. Provide written reports about the progress for children for whom evaluations have been completed or for whom other social work services have been provided.
  12. Participate in the development and implement the IEP for each child on therapy caseload, with goals and objectives
  13. Attend staff development sessions and other meetings as called by the principal and special education director
  14. To provide crisis intervention services as needed
  15. Communicate information regarding problem areas in the delivery of social work services through the office of the principal and director of special education
  16. To participate in pre-referral or collaboration meetings with school district personnel
  17. Participate in the development and presentation of in-service workshops for parents, administration and staff and/or community agencies upon request.
  18. Assist principal to nurture safe and caring school environments
  19. Offer topical group therapy and/or discussions to address identified needs specific to an age group
  20. Accept other responsibilities and duties, relevant to teaching assignment, as may be assigned by adminstration

Qualifications

  1. MSW degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work
  2. School Social Worker endorsed PEL
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Salary/Benefits

180-day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
