Duties

Blackhawk Middle School is seeking a versatile teacher that has working knowledge of grades 6-8 Illinois Learning Standards for EL/ELA. In addition, this teacher must be familiar with current pedagogy and interventions that produce results with English learners. Potential candidates should be well versed in the academic, social/emotional needs of middle school students, and possess a willingness to devote the time required to be successful with high needs students. The teacher must be collaborative and collegial and be an active, positive presence that promotes a safe and welcoming learning environment for both students and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Professional Educators License with these endorsements:
  • Middle School English Language Arts - REQUIRED
  • Middle School English Language - REQUIRED
  • ESL Endorsement or Transitional bilingual endorsement
• Successful teaching experience desired, but not necessary
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to be an effective member of a team
• Commitment to data-based decision making and continuous improvement model
