Duties
Duties and Responsibilities: *Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
- Provide parent support services and consultation.
- Provide in-service to staff as requested.
- Provide clinical consultation to staff.
- Provide timely and effective crisis intervention.
- Participate constructively in staffings and meetings.
- Assist in writing program reports, policies, etc., as requested.
- Take initiative to facilitate program with minimal supervision.
- Provide counseling to students as indicated on the IEP.
- Serve as liaison to community agencies, e.g., mental health, probation, DCFS, etc.
- Communicate meaning and educational implications of psychological and psychiatric reports to parents and teachers as necessary.
- Maintain good relationships with staff, students, parents, district staff, and community agencies’ staff.
- Practice professional development through attending regional and national conferences, participation in professional organizations, contributing literature to the field, and keeping abreast of issues and changes in the field of mental health and special education.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of professional knowledge of the field.
Terms of employment: Up to 195 days at a pay rate established by the Board of Directors in accordance with its Agreement.
Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds (and/or up to adult size body weight with two-to-three person lift). Position can require some degree of physical interaction with students who have difficulty controlling physical behavior.
