Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Duties and Fiscal Responsibilities

Supervise family engagement staff at the James Williams Center.
-
Create and foster relationships with the Regional Office of Education, community and social service agencies to coordinate resources for families and students addressing factors that impact learning and prevent student school success.

Regularly visit sites to assess program implementation and the quality of services.
-
Develop and deliver targeted, ongoing professional development and coaching to increase effectiveness of campus attendance teams.
-
Analyze attendance and discipline data as part of data-driven and continuous improvement culture.
-
Participate in and support Professional Learning Communities, task forces, and district meetings as requested.
-
Provide annual evaluation of all programs under his/her supervision and make recommendations for continuation or replacement.
-
As applicable, manages department grants, including budget and expenditures, amendments, accounting, purchasing and ensures fiscal and programmatic compliance.
Family Engagement
-
Ensure new families registering in the district experience proper in-take processes and maintain positive interactions with staff and procedures.
-
Coordinate with schools Pre-K through 12 and families to provide enhanced support to students experiencing personal challenges affecting positive school attendance and engagement in education.

Ensure that each school Pre-K through 12 has parent programs that include information about education, employment and volunteer programs for parents.

Ensure high quality parent activities including opportunities for employment counseling and adult education.

Supervise Title I parent involvement, lead parent and parent program administration.
-
Advance parental education initiatives and engaging participation in Parent Teacher Conferences.

Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of student information.
-
Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding student records; oversee requests for transcripts and other student records.
Attendance Services
-
Ensure compliance with the McKinney-Vento Act for homeless families and unaccompanied youth and support Youth In Care.
-
Monitor and support District Homeless Attendance/Truancy Officers (HAT) and Attendance clerks to reduce chronic absenteeism and provide effective attendance intervention strategies to families and schools.

Supervise dropout prevention and recovery programs
PERFORM OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED.
Qualifications
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
-
Professional Educator License with endorsement in General Administrative required.
-
Teaching, Counseling, or Social Work Certification preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
-
Project management experience preferred.
-
Successful experience responding to parent concerns and maintaining relationships with parents and guardians of School District 189 students for a minimum of 5 years preferred.
-
Experience with student attendance, truancy, suspension, and expulsion hearings preferred.
-
Training in restorative practices and trauma-informed supports preferred.
-
K-12 leadership experience preferred.
-
Experience managing grants preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of best practices in supporting families and home/school relationships.

Current knowledge of the community resources and support systems available to assist students and their families.

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws related to homeless students.

Ability to develop and implement projects.

Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

Ability to coordinate with government entities, educational institutions, social service agencies and community partners.

Salary/Benefits
Salary: $98,000 -$138,000
