Duties
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our junior high team. The ideal candidate will foster a love of reading and writing while developing students’ critical thinking and communication skills. This teacher will create engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support diverse learners and prepare students for academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Classroom Management:
- Develop and implement engaging ELA lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
- Teach and reinforce literacy skills, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis.
- Use differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with accommodations.
- Foster a student-centered learning environment that encourages discussion, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and other classroom management strategies.
- Integrate technology, multimedia resources, and project-based learning to enhance instruction.
Assessment & Student Support:
- Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Provide meaningful feedback on student writing and assignments to promote growth.
- Identify students needing additional academic support and collaborate with interventionists, special education staff, and counselors to address individual needs.
- Differentiate instruction for students at varying proficiency levels.
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and administrators to ensure curriculum alignment and student success.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, assignments, and behavior.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress in compliance with district policies.
