School Bus Driver

  1. Drives a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules, transporting students to and from their designated bus stop/s and other school-related activities.
  2. Observes all mandatory traffic, safety and security regulations and procedures for school busses.
  3. Maintains order and proper discipline of passengers, resolving disputes and documenting and reporting severe disciplinary cases.
  4. Operates a two-way radio or other District communication system.
  5. Assures maintenance of bus safety and clean operating condition; reports needed mechanical repairs.
  6. Conducts pre and post trip inspections of assigned vehicle daily.
  7. Maintains a variety of records and reports including but not limited to mileage, routing, maintenance, time schedules and accident reports.
  8. Conducts routes according to established records and procedures; assists with other routes when breakdown or other unusual circumstances occur, as assigned.
  9. May operate a special ramp bus which includes: Loads and unloads students in wheelchairs on and off bus; inspects wheelchair for operational safety and permits only properly functioning wheelchairs to load; operates ramp; assures seatbelts are fastened; and positions and secures wheelchair in bus.
  10. Monitors students with special health conditions while they are on the bus; receives written or oral instructions; remains aware and alert to any signs of difficulty and calls for emergency assistance, if needed.
  11. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of students, staff, equipment, materials and facilities.
  12. Complies with all contractual duties, Board of Education policies and administrative procedures; adheres to state and federal  laws and regulations.
  13. Exhibits ethical behavior and integrity and maintains confidentiality for all school-related responsibilities.
  14. Maintains a positive attitude toward job related growth and development.
  15. Develops and maintains positive and active relations and effective communications with students, staff, parents, community members and community organizations.

Driving Record that Qualifies for Class C.D.L. Class B with S.B.P. Endorsement Licensure
