Duties
As an Elementary Math Specialist at Ashton-Franklin Center Elementary School, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing math instruction for elementary school students. This role involves working closely with teachers to improve math curriculum, providing targeted interventions for students needing additional support, and fostering a positive math learning environment. The specialist collaborates with staff, analyzes student data, and implements best teaching practices to improve mathematical understanding and achievement.
- Identify students in need of math intervention through assessments and teacher recommendations.
- Develop and implement targeted intervention plans using research-based math strategies.
- Provide small-group or one-on-one instruction to students requiring additional math support.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction.
- Analyze student performance data to track progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Utilize engaging and interactive teaching methods to enhance student understanding of math concepts.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and strategies for home support.
- Support the implementation of school-wide math initiatives and intervention programs.
- Participate in professional development to stay current on best practices in math intervention.
Qualifications
Valid Illinois Professional Educator Licensure (PEL), Elementary Math Specialist Endorsement (or be willing to obtain this credential), & 3-5 years of elementary teaching experience preferred, but not required.
Salary/Benefits
Per the Ashton-Franklin Center CUSD 275 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base salary for teachers is $38,335.51 (plus TRS and health insurance benefits, as agreed upon by the AFC Education Association and the Board of Education.) The 2025-2026 contract will be posted once contract negotiations are completed this spring.
- Twelve (12) days per year of sick leave.
