Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of STEM units of instruction
  • Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency, or level of interest in the subject.
  • Provide instruction in the STEM curriculum
  • Plan grade-level integrated STEM units for science center instruction and summer camp
  • Support teachers in the implementation of the District’s science curriculum
  • Support efforts to train and support staff in the understanding of the application of science through STEM integration
  • Maintain current knowledge of issues in the core curricular areas of science and pursue professional growth opportunities
  • Plan grade-level science outside-of-district field trips and classroom visits on science and health topics
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom by modeling expected behavior and standards and promoting positive interactions.
  •  Assist in planning and coordinating the annual science/STEM fair
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Building Administrator

Qualifications

Summary/Objective: 

To provide leadership and expertise to develop and improve the Science Center   The STEM teacher plans and expands efforts that support high-quality integrative STEM education for K-6 students, and utilizes knowledge about best practices and instructional strategies to develop STEM lessons and resources that directly support curriculum implementation.

 

Qualifications:    

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Science and/or Math endorsement
  • Comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and skill in content area/assignment
  • Minimum 2 years of successful teaching experience preferred or relevant coursework within the last 3 years
  • Knowledge and experience with Google suite
  • Excellent communication skills
