 Key Expectations:

Staff Supervision & Development:

  • Provide instructional leadership that supports staffs’ implementation of both curriculum and instructional practices that align with the Board of Education’s standards in meeting each students’ needs
  • Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, and evaluation of certified and non-certified staff
  • Implement programs that improve Teacher performance and assist students in realizing appropriate growth
  • Conducts staff evaluations to provide constructive feedback and support professional growth
  • Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, ensuring alignment with school administrative procedures and instructional expectations

Student Supervision & Discipline:

  • Establish and maintain an effective and attractive learning environment that fosters Teacher and Student Belonging
  • Oversees student discipline, ensuring consistent and equitable implementation of school policies
  • Implements restorative practices and logical consequences to support student behavior and accountability
  • Directs the supervision of playgrounds, lunchrooms, hallways, and recesses to ensure student safety and a positive school environment

School Operations & Logistics:

  • Ensure the creation of accurate reports, records, lists, and paperwork appropriate to the school's administration
  • Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students while working closely with families and staff to address absenteeism and tardiness
  • Supervise the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes
  • Develops and maintains the school schedule to support instructional needs
  • Respond to concerns from parents, teachers, and administrators in a timely manner
  • Oversees emergency drills, including fire, lockdown, and severe weather drills, ensuring compliance with district and state safety protocols

Assessment & Accommodations:

  • Coordinates the school’s testing schedule for state and district assessments
  • Organizes and oversees testing accommodations for students with IEPs and 504 Plans, ensuring compliance with documented supports
  • Works with teachers and support staff to group students appropriately for testing accommodations 

504 Plans & Student Support:

  • Oversees 504 evaluations and plan development, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Collaborates with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement appropriate accommodations for students with 504 Plans
  • Monitors and reviews 504 Plans to ensure they meet student needs and are effectively implemented in the classroom

Event & Activity Coordination:

  • Plans and coordinates school events, ensuring smooth logistics and staff involvement
  • Supports, supervises, and evaluates extracurricular activities and student engagement initiatives

General Responsibilities:

  • Implement policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Education and the Illinois School Code
  • Assume responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development through membership and participation in the affairs of professional organizations
  • Assist and support the District’s Business Office, Human Resources Department, and district-initiated projects
  • Implement benchmarks for students and Teachers and track progress toward those goals
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned by the Principal

Qualifications

 

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Principal Endorsement or General Administration
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an elementary building-level administrator
  • Excellent communication, presentation, community outreach, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with equity, empathy, and a growth mindset
  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience in an elementary setting preferred
  • Experience with MTSS, special education processes, and Professional Learning Communities preferred
